The breakfast turned out better than we expected, given how little we were expecting. The rooms aren't luxurious, but they're comfortable, with a modern touch and an old-world charm. Getting into the city center takes less than 15 minutes, and several tram lines and the metro are nearby. We booked a room overlooking the Erasmus Bridge, and I'd say the extra charge is worthwhile. Those rooms are bigger as well, so you get the view and more space. Service felt quite impersonal, which seems common in the Netherlands. You need to wait your turn, or the staff get stressed.
