De Stobbe hotel & suites

We’ve been back to De Stobbe Hotel & Suites for a second visit, and there’ll definitely be a third! The food and service were excellent, the staff so friendly and efficient, and the welcome was lovely. See you soon!

The beds were clean and comfortable, and the hotel sits in a lovely part of the Netherlands with good routes for walking and cycling. The rooms are somewhat old and small. The shower cabin is especially cramped for bigger people, and the toilet isn't very large either. I also don't like cloth bed covers, which feel a bit unhygienic. Downstairs, the bar is cozy and has several kinds of beer. The restaurant was fine and the staff were really friendly, though the menu doesn't offer many vegan or vegetarian choices. It's an okay hotel, nothing more or less.

The room was roomy and clean, and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly. The bed decoration looks dated, and I really disliked the carpet. It doesn't feel hygienic when people walk on it in their shoes.

My suite was very dark, which made basic things like packing and unpacking difficult. But the main problem was the hairdryer. It only blew cold air, so I spent an hour trying to dry my hair and got nowhere. It was raining, and reception was in another building, so I tried calling from my room. No one answered. I got dressed and went over, and the receptionist spoke to me as if I were an idiot, explaining how to use the dryer as though I didn't know. I told her it was broken and asked for another one, but she said the hotel had no spare hairdryers and suggested I knock on other guests' doors to borrow theirs. Unbelievable. I asked them to fix it over the next few days. They came into my room, but nothing changed, and I had to go to bed with wet hair. I'm deeply disappointed by my experience at Hotel De Stobbe last month. The hotel advertises a sauna, pool, suites, and more, but that doesn't help when basics are missing. I felt mocked and undervalued as a guest.
