Hotel Julien

Room 4 was nicely designed, with a really comfortable bed, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel’s location next to the train station was great. But the room faces the street and was very noisy, and on the hot evening we arrived it got extremely warm without air conditioning. The drinks in the fridge weren’t cold either. When we mentioned this, the woman at reception, who I think was the owner, first responded in a very unfriendly and unprofessional way and dismissed our concerns. She suggested we find another hotel at almost 22.00 and said she’d never heard anyone complain about the noise, which was hard to believe. Eventually she brought a fan and cold water, which helped a little, but her attitude made us feel completely unwelcome. We still had a great weekend, but we won’t be coming back.

I’ve probably stayed here a dozen times over the past five years, and whenever I need to be in 's Hertogembosch, this is the first hotel I check for availability. The rooms and location are good. Free coffee and tea are available mornings and evenings, and the minibar selection, including a small cava for two, is included.

We spent our honeymoon here and absolutely loved it. The staff were lovely and helpful, the room was amazing, and dinner one evening was a treat: we really enjoyed the soups and a toasty. Parking was easy, just around the corner, though we paid extra to use it. The hotel is well placed, a 10 minute walk to the main shopping and dining centre and two minutes from the train station, making it easy to visit other places in Holland. We’d gladly recommend it and hope to return!

We came for tea and the famous Bossche Bol, and really enjoyed both. The original was available even though the bakery was closed that day, which was great. The staff seemed a little impatient now and then, but they were always friendly and kind.
