Geulzicht Hotel

We spent a week at Hotel Geulzicht. Our clean, well-kept room had a comfortable bed, and breakfast was included with very good coffee. The river Geul runs right beside the hotel, small but lively, and the location is just lovely. The owners and staff were warm and made us feel at home. We also really enjoyed the food in the cozy restaurant, with chef Stijn cooking and Marissa taking care of the service.

The hosts were so cheerful, like sunshine on a dull day, and had plenty of inspiring, adventurous stories about the hotel and the area. We stayed three nights, and every breakfast was generous, with a different surprise each day. The host brewed the coffee fresh himself. Our room was cozy, the bathroom spacious, and everything was very clean. The hotel sits by the river Geul at the end of a quiet dead-end road, where you can hear the water softly flowing. Good restaurants are within walking distance, including one just a minute away with great Italian food. The train station isn't far either, and can take you to Valkenburg. We felt everything was just perfect and will definitely come back.

We came just before Christmas for the Valkenburg kerstmarket, and Geulzicht was a great base. The village can get very busy, but the hotel is close enough to visit and far enough away to unwind. I imagine spring and summer would be lovely here too. The setting is beautiful, and bicycle rental is very close by. Cycling is a great way to see the area and ride into town, about 10-15 minutes away. We loved the fresh breakfast, with lots of options, and the multicourse dinner was incredible. The owner and chef were super friendly, and having a restaurant in the hotel made it easy to make the most of our short stay. Highly recommend.
