The food and setting were lovely, but the service really let our dinner down. Our group of about 10 was celebrating a family occasion after a sad time, and I’d hoped the meal might lift our spirits. We sat in the glass-covered sunroom with a great river view, watching the yellow ferries go by and, now and then, a large ship. The tables looked beautiful, and the food was tasty, with a slightly upscale feel. Still, service was very slow even though the restaurant wasn’t full, and staff made several mistakes. They brought everyone a shrimp and crab amuse without checking for allergies or vegetarians. One person in our group was vegetarian, and although there were plenty of vegetarian choices on the menu, it took ages for a suitable amuse to arrive. We all sat there awkwardly waiting before anyone could start. At least one soup and one main course were also missing at first and came much later. The servers seemed unfriendly too, with no smiles or apologies. This place has a strong reputation, lovely atmosphere, and good food, so I’d expected better service. And to be clear, this is about the restaurant, not the hotel.
