De Bussellaar

There are plenty of bedrooms, plus a dormitory, but the way they handle deposits feels like a business model built around keeping the money. They use ridiculous reasons to take as much as possible. We won't be back.

The cafe at the back of the building was a real bonus, and we spent several hours there. The owners were warm and welcoming, too. The accommodation is very clean and neatly kept, with a sensible layout and the right spaces for a large group. We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend it.

There are two kitchens, which feels like a real luxury, and a pub joined to an open outdoor area. The rooms and the toilet and shower spaces are spotless. Really good place, I'd recommend it to anyone.

I was exhausted after a full day at school and a traffic jam on the way to Haarlem, and I hadn't slept enough. Calling Booking.com got me nowhere, but I managed to arrange a room by text. They let me in through the intercom, with the key locked away, and said I could leave the money under my pillow. I slept right through the traffic noise and can head home tonight feeling rested. I barely hear anyone here. There's a big shared area and two kitchens, and everything feels new, fresh and really clean.
