Vakantiepark Slagharen

The lodge was modern, roomy, and clean. It was hard to figure out where our unit was and make a plan before arriving, though, and there’s no shuttle, so you need to come by car.

There’s plenty to do in Slagharen in winter too, including ice-skating and attractions with their own history. It makes for a busy day, and the kids will probably want coins for the many coin-operated machines as well as admission. The park also has a swimming pool, but it’s quite small, with only a few slides, and costs extra. Parking isn’t mentioned clearly, so keep in mind it costs €12,5 per car. You’re not allowed to take photos or videos on the rides, and staff may stop you if you try. You can buy pictures taken by the park’s camera system. A lovely family outing beyond the hot summer days, which aren’t often a thing in NL.

For €100 admission, I expected more, especially with so many rides closed despite it being holiday season. The food was below average across the board, and I wouldn’t spend even a euro on food or drinks here. There was rubbish everywhere, guests kept pushing ahead, and people ignored the parking rules. The park has more to offer than high prices and long lines, but I’d avoid it. Never again at Slaghagen.

For kids over 10, the park doesn’t have much to hold their interest. The rides feel really old, and there are lots of video games you have to pay for. A bit disappointing.
