We booked breakfast, and it arrived right on time in a basket. There was enough for a king. The bath was wonderful too, just the thing for unwinding after a long day. Our Poortsuite was characterful, lovely and quiet, with a large, comfortable bed. It wasn’t clinically clean, though I don’t think that’s something to expect in such an old building. For the same price you could get a standard room at vd Valk, but this place is much more special and beautiful. Highly recommended.

What a tucked-away gem. It’s a shame more people don’t realize how much Friesland has to offer.

It’s listed as a hotel room, but what you actually get is a whole house, with a bedroom, living room, bathroom and toilet. Idyllic and incredibly beautiful. Great location, and booking with Van der Valk is definitely worthwhile.
