For €71 a night in mid October, this was a very good deal. We had free parking and enclosed bicycle storage, and it made a good base for walking and cycling, with Weerribben - De Wieden national park and Giethoorn just to the west, and Drenthe’s national parks and sights to the east. The city centre is about 1.5km away. The hotel is right by a highway, but the soundproofing was very good. Inside, the spacious modern room had a very comfortable king size bed, a good bathroom, a desk and chair, a Nespresso machine, plus a comfortable fauteuil and leg rest, which you don’t often get.

We’ve stayed at this hotel three times already and will book it again on our next trip to Steenwijk. The top floor rooms have huge outdoor balconies, and it’s a fantastic place.

The rooms were way better than I expected, though I did miss having a mini fridge. There’s a book by the door where guests can write about their stay, and all the positive messages give you a sense of the service.

It’s a small, new hotel, clean and minimalist, with nice design details, good beds, great parking, and a peaceful feel most of the time. The furniture looks good but isn’t practical. After shopping, we had nowhere to put our stuff except on the floor, and we mostly had to sit on the bed. The TV was much too far away. Speakers above the bed or a TV mounted on the ceiling in front of it would help. Still, for this price range, it was very good and I’d recommend it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless. The bed was crazy comfortable, too. I was so glad to have this as my stay-in-and-relax day on the trip.
