Andante Hotel

Our room was cold because the heating wasn’t working during our one-night booking. We reported it and were told it would be handled, but two hours later nothing had changed. On our next trip to reception, we were advised to switch the heating off and on. That didn’t help, and when we asked again, we got a different explanation before being told that things sometimes break in hotels. It was disappointing to pay for a room and not have everything working, and the issue should have been addressed sooner. The staff were friendly and did try to help by providing portable heaters, which I appreciate, but the situation could have been handled better.

We booked two nights and unfortunately couldn’t cancel. This was by far the worst hotel experience we’ve had on our trip through Netherlands, even though the price was lower than nearby hotels. The reception staff weren’t very kind or friendly, and made several charging mistakes. Parking was awful: there aren’t normal spaces nearby, unless you pay 50€ for a full day of street parking. The hotel lot costs 25€ a day, but you have to hand over your car key and, attention, can’t use the car until check-out. That sounds illegal to me, though I don’t know Netherlands law. Reception didn’t explain any of this, they just handed us a paper to sign. They call themselves pet friendly, but after all the chaos I checked the hotel messages and found a lot of rules that other pet-friendly hotels don’t have, plus no facilities for pets. The rooms are really small, and the poor sound insulation meant we could hear everyone in the building, including drunk people yelling. There’s not much in the way of hotel facilities or services either, no glasses, fridges, minibars, or anything for pets. I’d never come back, and wish I hadn’t stayed.

The views were great, and Clif was kind and accommodating. The room was okay otherwise, but I woke up with bed bug bites, which was disappointing. I’ve never had that happen before. The facilities could be cleaner overall.

The room was lovely and clean, and we were quite happy with our stay. The breakfast was the same every day, though. Parking also bothered us: it was 25 EUR per day to leave the car on the street. In Germany they have tourists too and offer parking for 5 EUR a day, so I’ll write to the city council. And the rainy, stormy weather left you with wet feet and a cold. You need to come prepared or die trying.
