Het Swadde huisje

The cottage was roomy enough for the two of us, and the birds came by regularly. We had to change our plans to visit the Wadden Islands and the Seal Centre because of Corona, so we ended up spending most of our time in this cozy place instead. We usually bring lots of supplies when staying in cottages at campsites, but Wil had thought of just about everything, all in bird style. There was a welcome bouquet on the table, and we could fry a (bird) egg straight away, with salt and pepper already there. The compact equipment is modern and complete, and everything was spotless, with nothing worn out. We look for somewhere cozy with a bathtub, away from crowds, around Christmas and New Year's. This cottage fit the bill, especially the bathtub, which was a real wow. There's room for both of us to sit, with space for champagne glasses on the wide rim, plenty of hot water from the generous heater, and shower and bath foam ready to use. If anything's missing, just call out. Wil also told us about carbide shooting, and we took a beautiful walk along the many paths nearby. On New Year's Eve we were surprised with oliebollen and plenty of powdered sugar. The single-pane windows preserve the cottage's old style. I'd read earlier reviews saying the oversized heater made it too hot, but with a small adjustment it's easy to regulate, and setting 3 kept the place warm and steady. We had a lovely, complete, welcoming stay, a solid 10.
