Fletcher Hotel Valkenburg

The room was clean, and breakfast was good. The mattress was soft sponge and gave no support. Water leaked from the shower onto the bathroom floor, and there was no air conditioning or bathroom fan. The Juliet balcony is a serious hazard for kids, and there’s no screen on the windows. Parking can be difficult, and there’s no sign warning you not to turn left.

The room was the main letdown for us: it was very small and dated, with no space for bedside cabinets and nowhere to hang clothes, so we had to live out of a suitcase. The hotel is in a good location and reasonably priced, with friendly staff when you can find them. The restaurant was bright and modern, and the food was exceptional, though the menu was limited. It’s a short walk to the Christmas markets.

The building is a bit old, and you can hear people walking around upstairs, probably because of the wooden floors. Still, I’ve no complaints. It’s a nice, cozy base for a few days in Valkenburg, and guests get free parking. Breakfast was really nice, with plenty of choice.

Our AudiA6 was stolen from the hotel parking place in the morning, after it had been parked there on the first of our 6 days at the hotel. Someone took all 4 wheels. The hotel staff weren’t very helpful at the time. They told us to stop the booking and said we would get our money back, but that never happened. They haven’t replied to my emails or messages. Never again. I recommend this place if you want to lose 4 Wheels from your car, or have to pay a lot to replace them through no fault of your own. No help, no money back.
