The reception staff were attentive and ready to help, and coffee and tea were included in the room rate. That was about all I liked. The internet on the third floor didn’t work despite the options I tried, which is good to know before booking. I’d paid for three nights when I arrived, partly because the reviews raved about breakfast. That was a mistake. The menu, which I photographed, was tiny, with hardly any choice. The coffee was just labelled “coffee” and had no taste. There was a pleasant young waitress, but they didn’t make omelettes. I realised it wasn’t worth paying for, and they refunded the remaining two days without any fuss. The room was fine for one person, though I was on the top floor in one of the smallest, cheapest rooms. Cleaning seemed to mean only taking out the rubbish, so on the second day I didn’t want someone coming in and acting like they’d cleaned. Cold air came through the windows, and I could hear the neighbours easily, even from downstairs.

Yvonne’s help and advice, and that welcoming smile, made our holiday in this beautiful town more enjoyable. We spent three days at this charming hotel and felt looked after from the moment we arrived. The service was golden, everything went smoothly, and the rooms were very clean and warm. Thank you!

Breakfast was lovely, with fresh fruit, meats and breads, and you could order extras. The location was just around the corner from all those great restaurants. I loved the cosy, homely feel in the beautifully decorated rooms and shared areas. The help yourself bar had what you needed at reasonable prices. You just wrote down anything you took and paid at checkout.

Breakfast had loads of delicious choices, though it wasn’t cheap. On-site parking was useful too, and we really enjoyed our three-night stay so much we didn’t want to leave. The hotel looks amazing, with a lovely seating area and a coffee machine you can use for free. Our room was clean and comfortable, and despite being so close to town it was very quiet. It wasn’t a large room, though, and there wasn’t much storage, so expect to live out of your suitcase. The pretty cushions took up more space than necessary. The spiral stairs down to our room were very narrow and tight. If mobility is an issue, you may want to ask for a room elsewhere in the hotel when booking.
