Hotel Wilhelmina

The hotel is really run down and there was some noise. The rooms don't meet even a reasonable basic standard, and for the price it's absolutely not worth it. I wouldn't send even my mother-in-law here.

On our second cycling trip across Europe, my husband and I stayed here again. They kindly let us keep our bikes inside, and breakfast was good. It's a grand hotel with lovely rooms and everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a bath. The train station is right across the road, and the old town centre is quite close.

The ground-floor restaurant looked much nicer and was busy when we visited. The hotel itself, though, needs a complete renovation: the hallway and our room need new floors, walls, really everything. It was comfortable enough, but over 100 a night is too much for what you get. Breakfast was just OK, and there wasn't much food refilled when we came down at 920. Service wasn't the best, and unfortunately the place seemed sketchy. There are some practical upsides. It's just seconds from the city center, has private parking on site for 9 eur a night, and allows dogs.

For one night, the total came to almost 200€, including city tax, parking, and 15euros more for our dog. Pathetic. Breakfast was more like a basic truck stop, and they wouldn't refund us or the room price difference because we had “booked through booking”. We'd booked a triple bed room for the extra space, but they first tried to put us on the ground floor beside a busy street. When we asked to change rooms, they gave us the smallest, most horrible room ever (pictures attached). The staff were very rude and uneducated. Expensive for what it is.
