Hotel Vianen - Utrecht

The staff were at the level you’d expect from a four-star hotel, and the food was varied and really tasty. I slept like a baby. We came as a group of nine and had an awesome time. It was my first visit to the Netherlands, and I was amazed. Thanks, keep up the good work. I’ll definitely see you next time.

The only small downside was being close enough to the highway that it got a bit noisy when we sat outside. Parking itself was free, even though you need to take a ticket at the entrance. You just drive out without paying. I stayed one night and had a really great experience. It’s a big hotel with great service and a very nice restaurant. Breakfast was the usual kind, with a chef making omelets to order, plus scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and yogurt, bread rolls, marmalade, cheese and more. I can recommend it.

The room was very big and comfortable, the location was nice, and breakfast was great. The sauna was good too. But we stayed four days and never got the room cleaned. With our dog, it was hard to time housekeeping: we put out the do not disturb sign for breakfast and the pool, then asked if they could come in the next couple of hours while we took the dog for a walk. Nobody came. The pool also needed cleaning. We arrived on the weekend, and on my first swim I saw a patch floating and small bits of trash on the bottom. By day three, they were still there, so it seemed like the pool hadn’t been cleaned.

The wellness area and swimming pool are included in the price. I liked the Hamam best, though the pool felt a bit cold. The hotel is right next to the highway, and the small center of Vianen is an easy walk away. A nice stop if you’re on the road.
