Domein Holset

We still had a lovely stay and hope to return. The breakfast choices were limited, but everything was delicious. Our bed was comfortable, though softer than we like, and it gave us a bit of neck pain, which is a matter of preference. The house was generally very quiet, but the walls seemed thin, and some guests stayed up late, maybe until 2 am, which wasn’t ideal for light sleepers. This was our second visit to Domein Holset, after a sunny February stay last year. We enjoyed a few beautiful autumn days this time. We love the location and had especially liked having a whole cabin to ourselves on our first visit. This time we booked a beautifully furnished, very clean room in the main house. It didn’t face the hills, but the view of the church was still unique.

The tasting was excellent, and the place is beautiful and well cared for, with lovely views too. I recommend the full experience of coming to taste the sparkling wines.

We stayed in the guest rooms on the beautiful vineyard and absolutely loved it. Renting ebikes made it easy to explore the nearby little towns, which are very hilly. We also enjoyed the wine tour. Our guide was lovely and knew a lot. Their sparkling wines were among the best we’ve had outside of champagne!

The rainy, foggy weather meant we couldn’t enjoy the scenery as much or take the long walks we’d hoped for, but we’ll come back in summer. Bram and his team were responsive, very courteous and did a great job making our stay comfortable. It’s a lovely way to get away to a scenic part of the country, with the lockdown. My wife and I had an excellent two-night stay at Domein holset. The setting is picturesque, and even in the rain and fog it looked amazing. We stayed in the Atelier room, which I’d highly recommend. We managed without a car, though having one would make things more convenient: we took the train to Maastrict, then the bus to Lemiers, followed by an easy 20-minute walk to the property through excellent scenery. Breakfast was excellent, with good coffee and lots of local cheese. We stayed in for dinner and ordered from the property’s limited menu. The soup, vegetarian quiche and beef stew were all good. On the first night we had the borrelbox with cheese and cold meats and a bottle of bubbly, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
