B&B "Jan" te Vreeland

My wife and I had lunch here. The food was amazing, but the service could have been warmer and shared more about the dishes. I expected to learn about what we were being served, but we got very little insight, and I felt that did the food a disservice. For a one star restaurant, it was above average. Totally worth it.

The staff and chef were friendly and came across as genuine, and the atmosphere and view made the meal even better. We had the 8-course menu, with gorgeous, surprising, extremely tasty dishes and just-right portions. Every dish was perfect. It was my first time at a michelin star restaurant, and truly awesome. The only small thing was that the gaps between the last 3 courses were a little longer than ideal. It didn't bother us in the end, and the dishes were worth waiting for. Great experience.

I was invited to dinner and thought the cooking was impeccable. The set menu was well balanced, classic with a modern twist, and some dishes pushed toward experimental without going too far. There was great play with texture, and the service had a lovely pace. The staff weren't intrusive; they seemed to know just when to bring each course or be there for wine choices and questions.

Two weeks ago, on a sunny day, we sat outside on the terrace looking out over the water, watching boards sail by and enjoying great champagne and oysters. Then came fabulous food and wine, with excellent service!!!!
