Klein Loenen

The wine cellar is the standout detail: its glass ceiling is lit up and visible from the living room, and you can even take wine from it. It made us joke about putting a hole in our own floor, until we remembered we have underfloor heating. There are loads of thoughtful details, enough to make up for not having a separate toilet. The place is small but lovely, with everything you need for two. Breakfast was arranged, and the car can be parked nearby. The restaurants we tried and the bakery around the corner were an easy roll away. That bakery reminded me of Bakkerij Lubbers from my hometown, way back when. It felt wonderfully village-like, even to a city person like me.

The area is so peaceful, and it's a lovely base for visiting Loosdrechtse Plassen, the Vecht River and De Haar Castle. Around the corner, there's a wine tasting with delicious wines and Indonesian food that we highly recommend. The B&B is a former bridal cottage right beneath the church bell tower. It's been furnished with real care, with lots of attention to detail and its history. What a special place!

Fresh, delicious breakfast from the bakery around the corner, and we slept wonderfully in a lovely bed. The shower was lovely too. Such a beautiful spot, just right for a weekend away or even a single night!

Restaurants and a supermarket are only a stone's throw away, and you can step straight out into Loenen's narrow historic streets and over its bridges. The cottage is a beautiful place in the centuries-old center of Loenen aan de Vecht, decorated with great taste and an eye for detail.
