Brasserie-Hotel Antje van de Statie

The room was quiet, small but practical, with a great bathroom and walk-in shower. Breakfast, included with our booking, was served buffet style. We also had a light bite in the Brasserie before heading out for the evening, and it was great. I was in town for a friend's birthday party, on the recommendation of local friends. That morning the Host contacted me to check when I'd arrive, and she was friendly and professional. Would I stay again? Absolutely yes.

We left dinner after nearly an hour, and we won't be back for business or a private visit. The previous night we'd come with a group for a business dinner, with plenty of food and drinks, and the staff had been accommodating about changes to our orders. The next evening, with my family and a small baby, the experience was completely different. We were seated alone in the bar area, which was fine, but the house music was excessively loud. We politely asked the unfriendly, inflexible manager if it could be turned down a little. He flatly refused, saying guests were expected at the next table for an aperitif. Almost an hour later, nobody had arrived. It would have been a simple, considerate gesture to lower the music until those guests showed up. Instead, it felt indifferent and lacking in basic common sense.

It's very close to the train station, and the place was clean with a nice breakfast.

The rump steak I had was only average, not tender and not very tasty. The waiters were friendly and helpful, and the prices were about what you'd expect.
