The service gets five stars from me. Everyone was really friendly, and they treated and trusted me like a high ranking inmate 💪. Everything was clean, nice and well maintained, but it’s a real prison cell, so one star is actually the best possible room rating 👌. Breakfast is basic and prison like. If you’ve never been in jail, this is a unique experience you should definitely try. ❤️ It.

Fengselshotellet is quiet, clean and surrounded by very interesting, well preserved surroundings. Don’t expect luxury, but it’s a different and educational sort of stay. Make sure you take Audun’s guided tour. He’s a former inmate who now runs the hotel, and the tour is very, very good.

The staff were great, the bed was comfortable and there’s plenty of history here. It’s close to town and definitely something out of the ordinary.

Our family spent a week at Fengsel hotel and came away pleasantly surprised by how original it is and by the service. We were shown around the hotel and its cozy terrace, where I loved spending time. It’s a really cool idea. A special thank you to the owner, Audun Garthe, for his hospitality, help and high quality service. His own story and experience are a big part of what makes the hotel unique. I recommend visiting this one of a kind place!
