Gudvangen Camping

The rooms were neat and clean, a nice place to unwind after exploring. It’s tucked into the mountains, quiet and surrounded by beautiful scenery. I’d recommend booking on their website directly for the best experience.

We had to clean up after ourselves, wash the dishes and strip the beds before leaving. The sheets and duvets they gave us were in awful shape, the sheets thin and torn, and the pillows seemed fit only for dog beds. There was one 18-inch Weber kettle barbecue for the whole camp, and it had no lid. This wasn’t a stay we chose; our tour company put us here. We had to share a cabin and bathroom with another couple who were virtual strangers at the time, though they were lovely. I didn’t spend that kind of money on a tour expecting to share a space with strangers and make our own beds. In the evening, two vans stopped behind our cabin over a manhole cover and emptied either sewage or gray water. I don’t know which. It looked like someone squatting in the street to pee. Disgusting.

There are too few toilets and showers for the number of people staying here. Even with the extra mobile block, waits can reach 20-30 minutes. I’d rather pay for showers if that made them quicker to access. Otherwise, it’s a decent campsite with the basic facilities.

The mountain setting is peaceful, with clean, cozy rooms and incredible views of the surrounding nature. Booking right on their website was totally worth it, and I’d highly recommend doing that for the best experience.
