Clarion Hotel Bergen Airport Terminal

We ended up here because our Hurtigruten ship, the MS Nordlys, had a faulty thruster that needed repairs. The hotel itself was perfectly fine, with that effortlessly beautiful Scandinavian design and a great breakfast, especially the impressive US-style bacon. Getting to the airport took nearly ten minutes, though the route was a bit circuitous. The room was good, but the bathroom glass was frosted only in the middle, leaving clear edges where you could peek in and see whoever was on the loo. That’s awkward if you’re sharing to save money with a friend or work colleague.

They only told us after we arrived that the strike meant limited breakfast, no restaurant, and generally very little service. By then we’d returned our rental car and were stuck. If we’d known the hotel would be so barebones, I would have made other plans. This was a health and safety concern for us because a family member has a serious disease, and there was no food available when we got there. The hotel said the strike had kept them from telling guests about the reduced service in advance, but that isn’t acceptable given the health and safety implications. Another hotel communicated properly, so we made alternate arrangements. I can’t recommend this place. They showed little respect for customers and didn’t seem to care about these concerns.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Very luxurious, with really high quality service. I’d suggest coming here.

We arrived pretty late and got a warm welcome, which was a lovely start to the night. The rooms were so comfortable, with a nice bed and air conditioning. We needed somewhere to stay before our flight, and I’m really glad we picked this hotel. That hot breakfast the next morning blew us away. I’d love to come back.
