Hotel Park Bergen

Hotel Park refunded us in full, even though we cancelled after the deadline, and the staff were very nice to deal with. We left and stayed at another hotel. I’d thought I was booking an upscale hotel at an upscale price, but the place felt more like a hostel. There was no elevator, and our room was on the fourth floor up a spiral staircase, which was tough with luggage. It was like a finished attic with dormer ceilings, and anyone at least 5’4” would hit their head. The bed’s throw pillows were worn and pilled, the shower was the narrowest I’ve ever seen, and there was only a bath towel and hand towel, no washcloth. What finally did it for me was the single nightstand. There wasn’t room for a second without blocking the bathroom.

Our Room No.21 got very warm, and there wasn’t an effective way to control the temperature. The breakfast was delightful, but space is tight and there can be a long queue on busy mornings. It’s a small hotel with charm and character, in an excellent location close to the Grieg Center.

A bit disappointing. If it had been a B and B, I’d have given it top marks. Breakfast was reasonable, though there wasn’t much hot food. Both the room and dining area felt cramped, especially the bathroom, where it was basically one in, one out.

The breakfast was good and had a nice variety, with enough choices to fill you up. The hotel was beautiful, peaceful, and idyllic, and the location was pleasant, fairly close to everything. Our room was lovely but needed updating. The bed creaked so much that turning over woke you, and the bathroom fan was really loud, switching on whenever the light came on. Staff service varied: we got a very warm welcome at check-in, then rather curt service when leaving. It’s an okay hotel, but not worth the price.
