Grimen Camping

The rooms are pretty small, though they have the basics: hot and cold water, private bathrooms, a kitchen, and free coffee. The camping site sits right by a small lake, where you can swim if you don’t mind the cold, or fish without a licence since it’s freshwater. Catching fish isn’t easy, but we got a few brasses.

The kitchen is large and well equipped, and the bathrooms are clean and organized. Hot and cold water cost nothing extra. We visited Grimes Camping on August 19th and tried to reserve a camperVan/Motorhome spot ahead of time because we wanted a fjord view, but that wasn’t possible. The location is nice if you get a place closer to the fjord. Otherwise, the road is noisy, with cars outside around the clock.

I stayed in a tent. It’s near a busy road, so there’s some noise, and the hygiene is just about okay. Toilets and showers share a room, so you hear every detail from other people. Still, there’s a fully usable kitchen with cooking gear and an oven, plus free laundry machines, which is great. I’d come back.

We were disappointed and wouldn’t choose this campsite again. The site felt like a parking lot rather than a proper campground, and the area wasn’t appealing. Sanitary facilities were very basic and not very clean during our stay. We paid for a pitch with electricity and washing machine use, but there was no electricity connection at our spot. Laundry wasn’t possible either: there were only two machines, and both were always running the longest programs. The staff were friendly, though they seemed somewhat disorganized, which didn’t help.
