Hotel Villa Terminus

The breakfast was lovely, and I liked the architecture and how close the hotel is to the train station. For an expensive hotel, though, the walls had poor sound insulation and our neighbours were noisy past midnight. The safe’s battery was flat, so it didn’t work. There were only black coffee supplies in the room, with no tea bags or milk. I later found those in a side room by the lifts, but someone could have mentioned that at check-in. Still, I’m giving it four stars and hope a return stay would be better.

There was loud music on the weekend until midnight, which is the only reason I’m not giving this hotel five stars. Otherwise, it’s a nice historic place, well located beside the station and a little over a ten-minute walk from the harbour and main sights. The hotel has lots of interesting artwork. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast had an excellent selection and quality. They also made an extra effort when they learned it was our anniversary. I’d definitely recommend it.

Delicious food, nicely presented. This is a lovely period hotel by the train station, with oak panelling and local art and poetry on every floor.

Breakfast was very good, though it got crowded and finding a free table was tricky. The location is central, right across from the train and tram stations and close to everything, but I never heard the trains. I’d booked a standard room and was kindly upgraded to a larger one. It looked lovely, but a Christmas party downstairs made it very noisy. I could hear the music and lyrics clearly at midnight. Reception apologized when I called and moved me to another room. For the remaining two nights they gave me a very nice suite, which I appreciated.
