It’s a very new hotel and is well looked after. The room was clean, nicely finished and had good amenities, a TV and comfortable bedding. Breakfast was a 10/10, with lots of choices. For a place presented as five-star, some expected details were missing. I heard a guest ask for a toothbrush, but none were available, and there was no complimentary water in the room. I’d mentioned our anniversary, but it wasn’t acknowledged at check-in or in the room. I only meant something simple, like a card, not necessarily amenities. Also, hotel guests have to pay extra for the spa, and the fee isn’t cheap. I’m not sure what Norwegian hotel standards are, but in Europe I’d usually expect the spa to be included when a hotel is advertised as a “Hotel and Spa.”

The room had plenty of space and everything I needed. The bathroom was clean and a decent size, and because it didn’t face a main road, it was quiet at night. The hotel is easy to get to from the airport, and the location was superb. Staff were friendly. There was a really friendly female chef at breakfast who greeted the guests each morning, even when the servers didn’t, and she made me feel welcome. The scrambled eggs were amazing, and there was a great selection overall. I had an excellent stay and would come back and recommend it to others.

Skostredet Hotel felt like a real find in central Bergen. The atmosphere was elegant but welcoming, and the rooms were beautifully designed. Breakfast was outstanding, among the best we’ve had, and the food overall was excellent, with real care put into quality and presentation. A perfect stay if you want comfort, style and great food in Bergen.

The staff were so welcoming, always ready to help, and did it all with a smile. Our rooms were just right, from the beds and bathrooms to the furniture, comfortable and nice to look at. Breakfast was a treat: healthy, tasty and nicely presented. The modern, minimalist architecture and decor give the place a peaceful, distinctive feel. It stands apart from the ordinary hotels you find in tourist destinations. We had a really enjoyable stay and will definitely come back.

The breakfast was nice, with fish, meat, cheese, pastries and hot dishes. They only put filter coffee out at the buffet, but you can ask for a proper coffee at the bar for free. The spa and pool cost around £40 to enter, and that isn’t included. The hotel has a lovely feel, and the rooms are quaint and cosy. We worried the smallest room, at 16m2, might feel cramped for two, but it was fine since we didn’t have big luggage. It could use hooks for towels. The location is right in the centre, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby, the harbour a few minutes’ walk away and the airport tram five minutes away. The only reason I took off a star was the heat. Norwegian buildings hold warmth so well, and there’s no air con. I usually feel cold and turn the heating up, and I’m British with no air con at home, but it really was too warm and we slept badly throughout. We couldn’t leave the window open overnight because the nearby street of bars was noisy until 2am.
