Poor service. The lady seemed genuinely crazy. We sat down for breakfast and she started talking about traveling to another dimension and wanting to take us to Mars. She also said she talked to Satan. It was scary. Vella might be beautiful, but she isn’t. At night, we heard an animal screeching as if it was being brutally murdered. Her cat disappeared the next morning, and we didn’t see it again during the remaining days of our stay.

The breakfast was amazing, and the view was beautiful. I’ve never stayed anywhere so magnificent. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed, beyond elegant. The host has thought of everything and designed it with meticulous attention to every detail.

After our Travelocity booking fell through, the owner did find us a room at a nearby hotel, but we had to cover the costly cab rides from Bergen and to the replacement hotel ourselves. We received no reimbursement or even an apology. She hadn't checked her Travelocity bookings and had given the whole house to a family instead, despite our confirmation email saying there was no need to confirm. We arrived and awkwardly walked into a family spending the evening at home. When we showed the owner our confirmation and number, all she kept saying was, "this is impossible." It was clearly happening, though, since we were standing in the foyer waiting for our room. I'm sure the place itself may be lovely, but we weren't able to stay.

It has a really nice, homey feel and the location is great and quiet. You do need a car, though!

A perfect setting for having breakfast inside the hotel.
