Tuvsjyen Saltstraumen

We stopped for coffee while passing through, then ended up staying a while. The hosts clearly take pride in the area and do a lot to showcase its local produce and history. There's a Stone Age restaurant where they cook over a fire pit, and the hosts wear homemade costumes. It wasn't open when we arrived, but we enjoyed sitting on the shore with fish soup and waffles.

The Stone Age restaurant is set up like an earth-covered tipi, with a fireplace in the middle, and they cook in there as people did back then. They also dress up and share stories and facts about the place and its early settlers, which was super interesting. We tried the tapas options: amazing homemade food, including dried cod, fried halibut, different cheeses, whale, aged meat, and assorted homemade jams and jellies.

A local restaurant with a little something extra. The history is really old, and the experience is one of a kind. I've traveled all over the world, but this was unlike anywhere else. Highly recommend.

A small-scale local experience that brings color and a personal touch to history. It gives you an example of Stone Age life in the Saltstraumen area. I highly recommend it!
