The sauna on the lake was amazing, just a short walk from the B&B, and a lovely way to unwind. We stayed one night on our way from Oslo to Kristiansand. Olivier welcomed us warmly and knows the region inside out. He was happy to talk about his Norwegian adventure. The rooms were clean and cosy, and breakfast had everything we needed. Dining options nearby are limited: Dalen Brygga around the corner is open only on weekends, and the main fancy hotel is another option. Book well ahead there and plan for the dress code.

Olivier gave great service when I rented a canoe for my trip, including useful camping suggestions and expert advice on paddling safely and efficiently. This was my second year renting from Dalen Bed and Breakfast, and I’ll be back soon. Highly recommend!

The beds were really comfortable, and there were so many good choices at breakfast. It’s a lovely place run by a very kind man. Glad we stopped for the night. Thanks so much for the coffee, Olivier!

We rented canoes from them, though we didn’t try the accommodation. He was easy to reach and a nice person, but the itinerary advice he gave us was off. He said Lunde was an easy five-day trip and that we could even continue to Skien. In reality, Lunde is more like 6-7 days if the wind cooperates, and I can’t imagine how long getting to Skien would take. For context, we were two fit men. The canoes came with useful barrels. We had to cut the trip short because of the weather and because keeping the schedule we thought would be easy turned out to be hard. We didn’t get any refund.

Oliver was a welcoming and helpful host at this friendly B&B in a small town surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our room was comfortable, though on the small side. Breakfast was fine, but nothing special.
