Rømskog Spa & Resort

We had a big, comfortable bed and a spectacular view from our room. There was plenty to do, from the heated pools, jacuzzi, spa and massage to the gym and outdoor activities for kids, including climbing. The meals were really good: a breakfast buffet, a two-course lunch, and four-course dinners. We tried dishes such as paprika soup, cauliflower soup, torsk, reindeer, laks, panna cotta, carpaccio, and French onion soup. We also had wine and cocktails, including a tequila sunrise, G&T, and mojito.

The whole time I was there, it was quiet and peaceful. I stayed Sunday to Monday, and I think people looking for a calm setting would especially enjoy this place. Rømskog Resort & Spa is tucked beside a beautiful lake in the Norwegian forest, and the setting is idyllic. Booking online was easy, and adding an upgraded package and spa treatments over the phone went smoothly too. After checking in, I had a relaxing facial and foot massage, then enjoyed a custom mocktail by the lake while listening to the water and birds. The outdoor pool was just right, warm without being too hot. I counted at least three outdoor saunas, with several more indoors, so there are options year round. It was cold and rainy during my visit, so I mostly stayed in the spa, though there are lots of outdoor activities: an adults' ropes course, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, and maps for nearby walking trails. Dinner at Rømskog was perfection, and the breakfast buffet was wonderful. I slept well in a very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. The training room isn't new, but had more equipment than I expect at most hotels, and it was great to work out before going to the pool. Every staff member went above and beyond to make my short stay memorable and enjoyable, especially the dining room and spa teams. I hope other people needing some quiet and relaxation find this hidden gem. The staff will absolutely treat you well here.

I went for the spa only. It was 250 NOK per person without food, and water, tea, coffee and the like were included. There are several saunas, including a floating one, and the views are great.

The food was delicious, and the staff helped us choose an excellent wine. The people working here are warm and professional. There’s an indoor infinity pool, a sauna, a cold pool, and an outdoor jacuzzi with a breathtaking view, all in a lovely spot in the Norwegian woods beside a peaceful lake. Highly recommended for a getaway, spa treatment, or business hotel.
