We were told someone would sort out oat milk for breakfast after I asked during booking and then called, but it never happened. The pool hours, 7 am to 7 pm, didn't work for us since we'd expected to swim in the evening. In our room there was a desk but no chair or garbage bin, and the sound insulation was poor enough that we could hear noise from all the surrounding rooms. I asked at checkout if we could leave our luggage until the afternoon and was told that was fine. When we came back, though, a grumpy voice on the phone said the hotel closed at 4 pm. Luckily someone arrived after 15 minutes, and we just made the ferry before it stopped running at 1900 on Sundays. Bad service.

The reception managers were so nice, both during the day and at night. And give Alexandra’s KILLER espresso martinis a try, if I spelled her name right. She makes them professionally, with her own touch 👌

My first trip to Norway was great, and Hankø made it memorable. It's a beautiful spot with delicious food and a big spa. They seem to do everything they can to make your stay perfect.

It's so quiet here, and the service is the greatest. You get plenty to eat, and the food is delicious, from Norwegian traditional and modern dishes to foreign options. Breakfast is excellent too. The rooms are good, with lovely views among the big trees. Best for families or a casual overnight stay.

We were at Hanko Hotel for the BW group annual conference in 2022, led by Shauna. Our group included people from Norway, Canada, England, Singapore, and India. It was my second visit to Norway and my first time at Hanko Hotel, which is a fantastic place with lots of activities. The staff kept us happy through a very busy summer season, when the hotel was fully booked. Special thanks to Tuan for his steady help with the conference and useful tips about what to do on the island 🏝 and in Fredrikstad. The traditional look of the older part of the building is nice, though its rooms could use a little improvement. I’d definitely recommend the hotel for conferences or individual guests.
