His knowledge of the area is worth more than gold. You can rent a GPS with detailed maps or paper maps, and he checks the weather over several days if you write your planned trip in his book. He's an incredibly friendly guy, a real Mountain Man, and the only person within hundreds of kilometers who can start a search and rescue operation if needed, hopefully that won't be necessary. The business is run by a couple: he's from South Africa (South Africa), and she's from Norway, more part of a Sami folk group. I don't know what the accommodations are like. You can also rent snowmobiles, skis, and snowshoes in winter, which is the perfect time to go. The owner makes beautiful souvenirs by hand that you can buy, too. A warning about hiking here: the terrain is extremely difficult, with almost no trails. A heavy backpack is hard to manage unless you've got strong legs and are in good shape. The terrain itself is relatively simple, but finding your way gets much harder when the weather changes. Summer temperatures are often around 5-7°C. During a storm, the wind is devastating. We had 150 km/h winds in rain at 6°C. I recommend it.
