Charmante Skostredet Hôtel

Three wonderful nights at the Savoy in London had set a high bar, but the Charmante took the experience somewhere else entirely. The hotel is exquisite, and the staff treated us as if we were their only guests. A special thank-you to 'Sandra' for making us feel like royalty. We can't wait to come back. You have to book this hotel, it's amazing.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but had breakfast there one morning before leaving Bergen for our cruise. It was unforgettable, really good, and we ate very well. The price was a bit steep, but the service was lovely. I'd highly recommend trying it at least once.

The staff were so kind throughout, from check-in and breakfast to local recommendations and check-out. I loved staying at the beautiful, cozy Charmante Skostredet Hôtel while in Bergen, and I'll definitely come back. I can't recommend it enough.

I hardly ever write reviews, but our evening at the Charmante was far beyond what our already high expectations could prepare us for. It's easily one of Norway's best hidden gems, and would make a premium stop on any European trip. The meal and atmosphere were wonderful, and the night became one of the best we've had in all our travels thanks to Alexandra, who gave us a fantastic tour. The restaurant has several great corners you might otherwise miss, and Alexandra enthusiastically showed us the varied suites upstairs in a fun way, including hidden surprises you have to be shown to discover. Dinner itself began with the room: the design has a strong point of view, balancing variety and consistency in a refined theme that feels both entertaining and welcoming. The service was just right throughout. Our server suggested adding and removing a few dishes so the meal would be better balanced and not too much food, which made us more satisfied. The flatbread aux champignon was excellent in its simple flavor, letting the mushrooms shine. The classic beef tartar has a misleading name because chili is mixed into the egg yolk, but it paired perfectly with the caviar service. If you've had enough Norwegian food, this is the place for a quintessential European dining experience.
