Sveastranda Camping

The owners really seem to care about keeping the site beautiful. We spent three nights here in our campervan and, since we’d booked ahead, got a lovely pitch right on the lake’s edge. Most pitches have good views, and the facilities are excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen. There’s a well-stocked shop open until 9 pm every day, where you can order bread or takeaway pizza. The restaurant looked interesting, but unfortunately wasn’t open when we were there in June. We took a boat from the campsite one day, and another day walked from the site through amazing wildflowers with views of the mountains and lakes. Gjorvik is a short drive away, with lots of supermarkets. The night we went, there was a festival and outdoor markets, which was lovely. It’s a very nice place.

We stayed at T1, which was close to drinking water, the service building, playground and beach. That made things easy with young kids. The modern service building was exceptionally clean, though hot showers cost extra. If I remember right, it was 15 SEK for 4 minutes, which felt a bit inconvenient. The campsite has its own beach, and the location is stunning. It was a wonderful place for our family to relax and enjoy nature. The little shop had a good range of groceries at reasonable prices, better than we’ve seen at other campsites. One evening we bought pizzas there and had an easy, tasty dinner at our site. We’d definitely love to return. It’s a peaceful, well-kept campsite that’s great for families by the sea.

Check-in was uncomplicated and the price felt fair. Some tent pitches have shade, though you’ll be in the sun depending on how close you are to the water. The toilets were clean and nice, and there’s a full kitchen with the basics for cutlery, plus a fridge and freezer. There’s also a great little shop with frozen things like fries, vegan garlic bread and a few essentials. Good spots for pitching tents and a great location.
