The reception girls were nice, but that didn't make up for the state of the place, so we left early the next morning and won't be back. Visitor pitches are tucked behind cottages and barracks put together by people who stay all year. I've never seen such a collection of rotten caravans and homemade shacks. It really doesn't feel suited to campers, caravans, or tents. The sanitary facilities are old and dirty, and the hand-washing tap, which looks like it might date from the early 60s, only gives cold water. You need local coins for a warm shower, and the water you can get tastes muddy. I can't see how the year-round residents manage, unless they have their own facilities hidden somewhere. Someone said the food was good, but we didn't stay to find out. Sweden or Finland would be better for camping.

The lake has a lovely beach, though there’s little shade and only a few spots for tents, so the campsite seems better suited to caravans and campervans. We paid NOK450 for three nights with a tent and car, which felt inexpensive. A shower costs NOK20 and you can stay in as long as you like. The sanitary facilities were a bit dated but clean and perfectly fine; the windows in the toilet, sauna, and shower building were quite dusty during my visit. 7.5/10.

There’s plenty to do, the food tastes good, and the natural setting is lovely. A good spot for families.
