There are several scenic hiking routes around the area, and the owners make you feel very welcome. The rooms are cosy, the food was fantastic, and I’d gladly visit again.

This is a quiet, pleasant place to spend the night, with a distinctive, homely feel to the simply decorated guest rooms. There’s no minibar, TV, or air conditioning, and the mattresses could use an upgrade. The bathroom is basic, with soap provided in a dispenser, so don’t come expecting luxury. The hotel restaurant had a limited choice of wine, beer, and other drinks. For dinner I had the house pie, roast lamb, and house almond cake. The lamb was the standout; the other dishes weren’t especially memorable, and the presentation felt dull. More local ingredients, stronger flavor combinations, and more care with presentation could have made the meal better. Breakfast was à la carte and fairly simple, with cheese, cold cuts, boiled eggs, juice, and coffee. The bread seemed homemade. I would have liked to see more local specialties and ingredients. The staff seemed nice, though the service varied, and I missed a bit more interest and commitment toward me as a guest.

The Norwegian food was excellent. The proprietors were very nice and helped me with suggestions and recommendations for activities.

The rooms are really nice, and the people were so kind. Dinner was perfect: we had salmon, deer, and an apple dessert. Best place!
