You only have a short walk from the harbor to the hotel, about two minutes, so luggage is easy to manage. The room was clean, though there were no slippers, which could be awkward if you like taking your shoes off indoors. I thought lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant were good options. Breakfast was pretty basic, though, and I wouldn’t especially recommend it. This little island feels like a real hidden gem, even if most tourists head to Tromsø instead. Prices are lower here, and although menu prices are similar, the servings are much bigger. I often felt one meal could have fed me twice.

The staff were really friendly, and checking out was quick. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and both meals were great and well looked after. Our room was clean, with all the amenities listed, and the shower had good pressure. The beds were comfortable but a little too soft. Check-in went smoothly, and we had a good stay for our one night here, like many people passing through for a whale watching tour. The hotel is a bit dated, and since it’s the only one in town there isn’t much choice, but I’d certainly recommend it.

Breakfast was yummy, and the place had a bit of charm, but the rest was disappointing. The beds were singles and so soft they were terrible for bad backs. My room had no heat even though the radiator was switched on, and it made a lot of noise. The morning receptionist was rude and obnoxious. When I tried to explain, she just shrugged. Then they tried to charge me for a dinner I never ate. It was okay at best.

There are some basic repairs the hotel needs. The bathroom light switches were faulty, and the toilets were leaky and noisy. We reported our toilet and were told the manager would be called, but nothing came of it. No one even came to the room. Management was missing in action. Disappointing.

The breakfast hall had a nice mountain view, and I appreciated the range of local fish salads to eat with bread. Everything was very clean, and the hotel has a certain charm, though it’s very basic. I only gave it three stars instead of four because the bathroom was quite rundown.
