Topcamp Mjøsa - Brumunddal

I visit a friend who keeps his caravan here now and then, and I like the place a lot. There’s a beach and playgrounds for kids, plus a big tent in summer where you can buy food and beer. Brumunddal city is only a few kilometers away, with a wood hotel, small shopping center, stores, gyms, football fields, beaches, and more. It would be nice to have a few more toilets around the campsite.

The cabins have high-tech features, including door locks and services through an app. But the furniture is worn, and the kitchen is missing basics: just 4 forks, all different, and no sponges or salt.

The bathrooms were the only real highlight, and they were clean. At our site, the wifi was awful and kept dropping, and it was expensive. The staff service was poor, so I wouldn’t recommend it. My wife and I came in late September 2023. We booked online, got a confirmation email, and sent another email to the campground account as a precaution. Since the campground is gated, you need a keycard from reception to enter. We arrived after dark, when reception was closed. A sign said there’d be an envelope with our name in the mailbox for late arrivals, but there wasn’t one. Another couple arrived at the same time and did have an envelope with a keycard. We called the numbers on the reception window, but nobody answered. A camper who’d been staying there long-term saw we had a problem and came over. We showed him our reservation confirmation, and he called a staff member using their personal number. The staff member sounded very cold, said they’d forgotten to check us in, and told us to find another camper to let us in. We’re grateful that person helped us, because otherwise we would have had to wake other people up.

There are lots of permanent pitches at this big, clean place. The facilities were clean too, with plenty of showers and a nice kitchen. With just one small tent, I found it a little expensive personally.
