City Hostel Bergen

Loved my stay at City hostel bergen. I booked the 4-bed female dorm, and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed. Each bed had a light and power sockets, and there was a big window in the room. The shared toilets were the best part for me. I could take my time in the shower, the water stayed warm even in winter, and there was a hairdryer too. The kitchen was large, with lots of pots, a stove, oven, microwave, and fridge. Bring your own towel or rent one for a fee. They let me store my luggage before check-in and after check-out. It's a good location, walking distance to everywhere, with the main train station just six minutes away on foot. Really recommend it, great experience.

I expected a good stay after reading the reviews, but ended up disappointed and shaken. There were cockroaches in my room, one in the shower and another in the main room. It was really distressing, and left me questioning how clean the hostel is. Reception was unavailable during the posted business hours, so I emailed the staff. Their response was dismissive and unhelpful. I would NOT recommend staying here.

A very clean, well-kept hostel, and the kitchen is set up well enough to make a decent meal with food from nearby shops. It's also ideally placed for the rail station.

We knew it was cheap, at £35 a night, so honestly expected it might be worse. The window was broken, one side of the curtains was hanging down, and the sink drained painfully slowly. Still, it was fine for us. We cooked there and walked into town a lot.
