Hotel Continental

The breakfast was lovely, both the food selection and the staff, and the place was spotless. The bar stays busy all day and seems to be where everyone wants to hang out. It’s a traditional hotel that’s been beautifully updated, right in the city centre. Staff were professional and knew their stuff.

Our junior suite was spacious, clean, well maintained, and very quiet, with a balcony overlooking the street. There are several places to eat in the hotel, though the neighborhood also has lots of food options. The hotel is close to the Oslo Rathus and National Theater station, which makes the airport connection easy. It’s also near the city centre, National Museum, the King’s residence, and the harbour. Service was good.

The bed was a little softer than I like, but otherwise it was fabulous. My room was great, breakfast had a good selection, and the hotel is right in the city centre.

The food and service at both Cafe Theatre and breakfast were excellent, and staff at the front desk were generally friendly face to face. On the phone, though, they sounded like they didn’t want to help. No one greeted us when we arrived, and there was no door attendant, valet, or help with luggage. The room had several operational problems despite its recent renovation. The carpet felt poor quality, and the shower design let water flood the bathroom floor. Housekeeping also kept taking away our extra towels. Google’s 4.6 rating seems overrated; the hotel could perhaps be a solid four-star property.
