We’ve often stopped here for tea or a snack and a bit of relaxation, but we won’t be coming back for food, a room, or an event. As we went in on our last visit, a very rude Danish man who apparently worked there came rushing over, shouting “HELLO!?” He’d been talking to someone else, so we hadn’t thought to speak to him. Then he demanded to know if we were guests. We were just on our way to wash our hands before going to the restaurant. When I politely said we weren’t guests, he angrily told us, “GO USE THE OUTSIDE RESTROOMS!!” He seemed threatening, and we felt humiliated and awkward. We left right away. I’ve never had an experience like that at a hotel anywhere. Unbelievable. Please fire this rude man. :(

The dinner alone was one of the best meals of my life, and I slept so well afterward. Breakfast was great too. I hadn’t planned to visit, but my vehicle froze up, so at dusk I walked up the old route from Sundvollen, about an hour. I really recommend that walk if you want the place to feel even more atmospheric. Arriving after dark felt like stepping back in time. The dinner menu has plenty for hungry people and can really impress a gourmet. The boss and team clearly put a lot of love into the Inn. I hope I can bring friends next time. Tak.

I went to a wonderful wedding at Kleivstua. The sunset through the restaurant windows as dinner wrapped up and the party began is something I won’t forget. The place has a great atmosphere, with friendly, attentive staff, cozy rooms, charming shared spaces, tasty local food, and amazing views.
