Gaupnetunet Hotell og Hytter

We picked this hotel because it was the closest reasonably priced option for our glacier hike. It’s basic but very clean, with good Wi-Fi, a great bathroom, and a good free breakfast. There are grocery stores right across the street. We couldn’t charge our car there because the few chargers were all in use, but found a super fast one at a gas station about eight minutes away. Clean, affordable, and comfortable. I’d highly recommend it.

There was a little brook right outside our window, with sheep grazing nearby, and the hotel felt like a tiny jewel in a fairyland town. We had delicious food at the restaurant, including authentic Norwegian meatballs (Kjøttkaker), and even found fresh scoops of ice cream in the lobby. The staff were charming, friendly, and knowledgeable. The hotel was clean, cosy, and spacious. I’d love to stay again someday.

It’s a remote area with not much to do, though there’s a supermarket nearby. The breakfast was nice and fresh, and the homemade bread was excellent. Make sure to bring whatever you need, including sheets, toiletries, and food. As a cabin for up to five people, with a full kitchen and bathroom, it’s nice. For a couple, though, it didn’t feel like good value. You get what you pay for.

A nice family stay. There’s a good restaurant for dinner with plenty of choices, and the breakfast buffet was good too.
