It was okay, nothing too bad.

A good place to be.

The location is a real highlight: Bjertnes tourist farm sits by Krøderen, with a beach and pier nearby, green surroundings, a calm atmosphere, and pets are welcome. The host greeted us warmly and showed us to the "staff cage". After that, though, the problems piled up. The house felt worn and poorly maintained, with a refrigerator whose handles were broken and whose inside was stained, shabby kitchen furniture, stained duvets, moldy mattresses, and a shower with no curtain. The toilet leaked and there was no hand soap. Mugs and cups were cracked and glued, while glasses stuck to the kitchen shelves and still had previous guests' lip marks. A little dust or a burnt-out bulb would have been easy to forgive, but this was too much. The bed was hard as the floor, so we booked somewhere else through Airbnb before the evening was over. At 5500 kroner for a weekend, Friday to Monday, it wasn't cheap either. Getting service was slow: the phone might be answered, or someone might call back a few hours later. Otherwise, you could knock and hope the host was there, and if something was urgent, you had to sort it out yourself. A pretty poor stay that we wouldn't wish on ourselves or anyone else.

The cabins are nice, the people are friendly, and it's right by the water. Do they have boats and life jackets you can borrow? 👍
