Scandic Brennemoen

The rooms were clean, and breakfast was generous and good. The staff were very accommodating. A very good hotel.

The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We had the veggie burger, which was good but pretty dense, maybe made with mushrooms and grains, though I’m not sure. The fish soup came with salmon and shellfish, plus what might have been shaved fennel or another root vegetable on top. The woman serving us was friendly and hospitable. She also came back to mention that a buffet dinner service would start in an hour in case we preferred that. I wondered if the kitchen had asked her to check, since a buffet could be a lot of work, but I don’t know. Things got a bit hectic. The food was good, and that’s what brought my rating up to 4 after I thought about the restaurant. The hotel itself feels like a fairly basic box for employees staying on work trips, while the restaurant was a little fancy in a nice way. I’ve stayed at a few Scandics now, and their design style is starting to grate on me a bit, though that may just be me. The central sunscreen control was an issue. It seemed like a bad idea from the start, and I’d rather have controlled it myself.

Dinner at the Gran bar and restaurant was a pleasant experience. The food was good.

The breakfast had good quality food and plenty of variety. The electric car charging stations were cheap, and reception was kind and helpful. It’s a completely new hotel, with a very clean, modern room.
