Radisson Blu Royal Garden Hotel, Trondheim, A Verified Net Zero Hotel

Other than the problems at the entrance and reception, it was like any other Radisson Blu. The entrance hadn't been maintained and was extremely slippery, and we fell as soon as we came in. It seemed some snow from clearing the parking lot had been left there, with nobody making the area safe afterwards. The receptionist, a woman in her 30s, didn't seem to care and kept one earbud in while talking to us, listening to something.

Breakfast was the one small snag: I couldn't easily find the hot food and only spotted it on the other side of the room after I'd already picked up other things. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay and I'd happily come back. The hotel is comfortable and right in the centre, so it's easy to walk everywhere. A big thank you to the staff for letting me check in early because of my membership.

The room was never cleaned during our three-day stay, even after we told the staff. They need to tighten up some procedures. The location is great, within easy walking distance of everything in the city centre, and the breakfast buffet was very complete. Staff were also very helpful.

We'd booked and paid for a room months ahead, but when we arrived to check in, the doors were shut. The hotel had closed days before our stay and never told us. Things happen, but they had days to communicate and didn't, which made it feel like they didn't care about their customers. This is the second time a Radisson has done this to us. Other hotels affected by the strike in Norway managed to operate, honour their bookings, and communicate proactively. We won't seek out this chain anywhere in the world again. It's unreliable and terrible at keeping guests informed.
