Sandmoen Bed & Breakfast

We asked for a room with separate beds, but didn't get one. The room was dirty and hadn't been prepared, with a blanket left on the sofa as if someone had just walked out. There was only one towel for two people, and the other towel was wet on the bed. If you book through booking.com, be ready to call reception from your mobile to find out how things work, since no information is provided. At the weekend, breakfast is at a petrol station. The worst hotel we've ever visited.

It's close to the highway, and the room and price are a great combination. There's a kitchen with two cooking points, a fridge, and cutlery including knives and spoons. The bed was comfortable, and outside noise didn't bother me while sleeping. Breakfast and coffee are included too.

The bathroom is in a separate building, so you have to go outside from the little lodge where the single rooms are. There’s one toilet and one shower, and the smell was bad the whole time. A shower costs extra, 20NKR for six minutes. The room itself was small but okay. As far as I know, there are four single rooms in that lodge. The walls are very thin, and I could hear every word my neighbor said on the phone. I also don't understand why the doors have little windows in them, so you have to hang something over the door.

We were three friends on a road trip in Norway, and this was our first stop. The staff welcomed us warmly, and they even gave us free waffles at check-in, which is always a winner for me. Our rooms were big, with comfortable beds, and we had private bathrooms. The main drawback was how small the bathroom was, with the shower less than a meter from the toilet. Apart from that, it was a great stay.
