The noise from neighboring rooms was the worst part for me. I could hear doors slamming and heavy footsteps from above and next door, and even the luggage clasps and shirt hangers clicking in the next room. One neighbor got up at 5 a.m., and the sounds, including luggage being dropped on the floor, startled me while I was still in bed. Earplugs helped, but I don't think guests should need them in a building that seems this modern. Maybe I was unlucky with a noisy neighbor, and other people may be less sensitive to sound than I am. The sound transfer seems to be a building quality issue. I also have elite status, and despite visiting in January, supposedly low season when the hotel shouldn't be full, I was given a room facing another wing instead of the outside. That wasn't a great experience as a loyal customer. The hotel does have a great location, with the airport bus stopping right outside, and the breakfast was good. The staff were friendly overall too.

The breakfast was a highlight for me: smoked salmon, Norwegian cheese, both the yellow kind and sweet brown brunost, and crisp flatbread, all with a nice view of the Nidelva river. The hotel is peaceful, warm and cozy, and the staff were kind and helpful. It's close to two Bakkegata bus stops, going in both directions, with buses straight to Vaernes Airport if you buy a ticket online. Trondheim's center and places like Nidarosdomen Cathedral are within walking distance. There are snacks and travel kits in the lounge. The hallway lights sometimes go dark, but the motion sensor switches them on when you move. If you're staying longer, you can tell reception whether you'd like the room made up daily or every two days.

The airport shuttle stops right outside, which is handy, and the staff are really friendly. It's also easy to walk into town or around the harbor from here. My room was a good size, clean and well looked after, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast had a nice, wide selection, served in an internal atrium overlooking the river.

Breakfast was excellent, but the location wasn't as good as some other places we've stayed in Norway. The room can feel overpriced for what you get, depending on when you travel.
