Scandic Rock City

Breakfast was the usual Scandic chain spread, complete but not especially inspiring, and it was better to go early before the holiday crowds arrived. The room's giant rock guitar design, with the sheet lines as strings, made for a dreamless night. It's one of two similarly themed rooms, inspired by Norway's earlier Rock & Roll. A few small things were missing, including a bathroom mat, sewing kit and shoe polish pod. The shower is in a bathtub without an anti-slip pattern.

The staff were accommodating and helped us out when we arrived soaked, giving us heaters to dry our bike gear. The food was delicious and satisfying, too. The hotel is beautifully themed, with art in every room. Mine had a blue rose on one wall, and there was a rock artist on another wall and in the hallways. The rooms are sumptuously comfortable. A hotel not to miss!

I really liked the hotel's modern, unique theme, and the room was clean with nice, new facilities. The reception team gave me such a sincere welcome when I arrived. They'd also received my lost suitcase from the airport before I got there and kept it safe, which was a big help. Be sure to have dinner at the lovely restaurant, with its panoramic view of the bay.

The rooms are great, though a full-size suitcase makes them feel a little tight. There isn't a gym at the hotel. They have a partner gym, but it's too far to walk there in a reasonable amount of time. Still, an amazing hotel overall.
