Home Hotel Bastion

Bertha at reception was attentive and helpful, and it was lovely to see her again at breakfast. The food was delicious, as was the coffee, which was available around the clock. Afternoon tea was delicious too, and the fire in the lounge and dining area made the place feel especially warm. Our room was comfortable and had coffee and tea facilities. Home Bastion has a lot of personality and warmth, something I find sorely lacking in some places. Since moving to Norway, this is the best hotel we've stayed in. We'll be back.

The dinner and breakfast buffets had a good range, and the staff were friendly. It’s a small, pleasant hotel with good Wi-Fi. Two floors were closed for renovations, which made things quieter, though I’m not sure how the dining areas would handle a bigger crowd. One annoyance: there was no plug in the bathroom sink.

We had a warm, quiet room on the eighth floor for three nights, even with construction happening in front of the hotel. The food was really good at both breakfast and dinner, and the staff were wonderful. Arild at reception was especially kind, helpful, and polite. We’ll definitely be back. We stayed here for the first two nights of our Norway trip, went to Bergen for one night, then came back for the final two. The hotel kept our big bag in its luggage room while we were away, which helped a lot, and its location made it an easy walk to everything. Our room suited the two of us perfectly. The bed was warm and comfortable, and the shower was always hot. Breakfast and dinner were both great, and the included Fika was a lovely extra. The two Asian women working in the kitchen and dining room were especially welcoming at every meal. There was also a selection of tea, plus coffee and hot chocolate, available in the lobby all the time. We couldn’t fault the place and would absolutely stay again.
