Thon Hotel Europa

I felt very safe here as a solo female traveller, and the central location made it easy to reach transport and tourist attractions. I'd recommend the hotel 10/10 and would stay again in Oslo. After an 11-hour journey and with a cold, I was so grateful that the lovely staff let me check in for free around 11:30 or midday. I just wanted to sleep. They also explained how to get back to the airport by public transport, since Uber was about £100. My room was clean and comfortable, with a good bed, a fan and heating, and plenty of daylight. The thick curtains blocked out the light when needed. With the windows shut, it was very quiet, with no noise from outside or the hallway. The bathroom had underfloor heating, and the shower had great pressure and got really hot, which felt wonderful while I was congested. The reception area was welcoming and clean, with free tea, coffee, and water. Breakfast was included, but I slept through it and didn't try any.

The room was small, and it faced the tramway, where noise ran from 5 a.m. until midnight. I was staying here for a tour. It's next to a Radison, and within walking distance there's a 7-11 that sells hot food. Nearby restaurants are $$$. There weren't many TV channels, but you can cast videos from your phone.

The staff were nice and helpful, and breakfast was decent, with cold platters, an English breakfast, plenty of tea and coffee, and fruit that was actually ripe. They provided room service only after we specifically asked, whether for daily service or every other day. During our November 2025 stay, construction was going on in the inner-side building. The balcony was closed off and covered, and we couldn't leave the curtains open because builders sometimes walked past and could see in. They get brownie points for the Molton&Brown shampoo and body wash, in addition to the generic wall-mounted soap and shampoo. On our first day we'd already had a full breakfast, but wanted to pack a sandwich to take along for later on a hike. We were told it would cost 75 Nok, which surprised us. That was a first for us at an Oslo hotel.

Breakfast was outstanding, and the front desk staff were incredibly helpful. The location made it easy to walk to many of Oslo's highlights. If you'd prefer a quieter room, ask for one at the back of the hotel.
